PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTENDING TO COURSES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF EASTERN FINLAND (HEREAFTER 'UNIVERSITY')
THIS USER AGREEMENT CONCERNING CERTAIN USER RIGHTS OF THE STUDENT AND OF THE UNIVERSITY CONSTITUTES A LEGAL AND BINDING CONTRACT BETWEEN THE UNIVERSITY AND THE STUDENT.
BY ACCEPTING THIS USER AGREEMENT AND BY REGISTERING AS A STUDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY, THE USER IS OBLIGED TO COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS HEREINAFTER.
1. USER RIGHTS TO STUDY MATERIALS GRANTED TO STUDENT
1.1 SCOPE OF THE USER RIGHTS
University hereby grants Student free of charge limited rights to use teaching/educational/study materials related to courses attended by Student at the University. The user rights are granted solely for educational purposes directly related to student's coursework at the University.
Student receives the following user rights to study materials for educational purposes:
- the right to store study material in digital form in a computer hard disk or in other digital platforms such as CD-ROM
-right to make paper copies of the material
-right to make back-up copies of the material
.right to modify the material and to combine it with other study material
-right to use derivative works based on the material in same ways as the original material
-right to display present or show study material or derivative works thereof in connection with coursework at the University
-right to distribute paper copies of the material to other students attending the same courses
-right to make the materials available in other ways to other participants at the same courses in order to perform tasks related to the coursework (such as group assignments)
The study material shall not be used or otherwise exploited in any other context other than study purposes related to teaching according to the University's curriculum.
Copies made under this agreement shall not be used, distributed, performed or displayed publicly or made publicly available in any other context or purpose than study purposes related to teaching according to the University.s curriculum.
The user rights granted under this agreement are non-transferable.
1.2 MORAL RIGHTS
The name of the author of the materials must be mentioned in connection with the use of the study material or parts thereof in accordance with good practice. Any copyright management information included in the material shall not be removed or altered.
1.3 USE OF SOFTWARE
If the material contains software in machine-readable form (object code), the following actions are prohibited without a written permission from the rights holder of the software, unless otherwise prescribed by mandatory law:
(a) reverse engineering, decompilating, disassembling or otherwise attempting to discover the source code of the software
(b) modifying or creating derivative works based on the software
(c) incorporation of the software or parts of the software into other software
(d) sublicensing, reselling, leasing, renting, lending, transmission or distributing in any other manner the software or parts of it as such or in modified form
(e) any use or copying to other purposes than defined in paragraph 1of this agreement.
2. STUDENT'S DUTY OF CARE
Student understands and acknowledges that the password and/or user code given to him or her is for his or her use only and that Student is prohibited from permitting access to any third parties to the password and/or user code. Student will be responsible for all access to and use of study materials by means of the password, whether or not Student has knowledge of such access and use.
Student is liable for any damages caused to the University by use of teaching materials against the terms and conditions of this agreement.
4. STUDENT'S CONSENT TO UNIVERSITY'S RIGHT TO USE MATERIALS CREATED BY STUDENT
Student hereby grants University right to use materials created by Student in connection with student's coursework at University, to be used in the courses attended by Student.
The University has the right to make copies of the material in any manner whatsoever, to perform and display the material in the teaching of the course in question, to distribute copies of the material to other participants of the course and to make the material available to other participants via internet.
The University does not have the right to use the material after the end of the student's coursework or in connection with other courses than those attended by the Student.
5. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
This Agreement shall be governed by, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of Finland.
All disputes arising out of or in connection with this Agreement, if not amicably settled, shall be finally settled in District court of Northern Savo (in Finnish "Pohjois-Savon käräjäoikeus").
I hereby accept that my personal data, including my first and family name, my email address and my usage time of Moodle, can be seen by the other students and the teacher of the course concerned.
I hereby accept the terms and conditions of this agreement and register as a student at the University of Eastern Finland.
